Even with a freak rainstorm we had a great tournament! Thanks to all the players and parents!
Also thank you to our tournament sponsors - please let the know you appreciate their support of scholastic chess: - Masonic Lodge #209
- SLO ROLF
The rated section was again led by Isaac Ruddell with a perfect 5.0 record. There was a 4-way tie for 2nd place between (in tie-break order) Joey Ruddell, William Bensky, Andy Huang, and Noah Galpert, each with 3 wins.
The non-rated section saw a 3-way tie for first between Ryan Anderson, Gavin Galanski, and Judith Gottlieb (in tie-break order). Ryan and Gavin were two of the youngest players with Judith not far behind. They each had 4 points - only losing to each other. We look forward to a lot future chess greatness from these guys! Trophies were also handed out to Marcus Hicks and Jake Browning who tied with 3.5 points each.
Full results and pictures are below.
We'll be back in the Fall with the next scholastic tournament. Thanks to everybody for a great year!

We have tentatively scheduled the next SLO Championship tournament for August 27th. It will be held again at the Masonlic Lodge in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo. This is a perfect venue for a chess tournament - we have figured out how to fix the alarm issues we had last time. :)
Keep an eye out for details.
