Scholastic Spring Fling 2010

The date and location for the premier scholastic event for the Central Coast has officially been set for May 1st in San Luis Obispo at Sinsheimer Elementary.

Tournament Guidelines and Rules

3 Sections based on 2009-2010 grade level. K-3, K-6, K-12. Sections may be combined at TD discretion.

Tournament Rules:
All players must be United States Chess Federation (USCF) members. A school team consists of the top 5 scorers in each section and must include at least 2 members. In the last three rounds, players from the same school may play each other to determine individual award prospects.

USCF Rated 5 round SS (Swiss System: Everyone plays 5 games against players with approximately the same number of wins and losses after each round.) Game/30. Sets and boards provided. Please bring chess clocks if you have them. Clocks may be used for grades K-3 and must be used for grades 4-12

Round Times:
May 1st – 10am, 11:30am, 12:45pm, 2pm, 3:15pm. Awards ceremony at approximately 4:20pm.

Registration & Entry Fees:
Tournament Entry Fee: $10 per participant in advance - Postmarked or e-mailed by 4/23/2010. Click here to print registration form.
$15 per participant late fee or onsite registration from 8:30am to 9:30am.
Register online! Online registration closes Saturday at 8AM.

USCF Membership: New players and expired USCF members must pay fee for USCF membership:

Trophies will be awarded to the top individuals in K-3, K-6, and K-12 sections. Team plaques for the top K-3, K-6, K-12. Best unrated award in each section.
